The Ministry of Finance has been instructed to accelerate the sale of state-owned “Sense Bank”. The proceeds from the sale will be used to finance the needs of the Defense Forces.

This was written by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky.

An international investment advisor should be involved in the sale, which will help make the process as transparent as possible. In parallel, the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank should resolve the bankʼs problems and ensure "transparent and high-quality corporate governance".

Operation “Forrest Gump”

On August 19, NABU and SAPO reported that they had uncovered a criminal scheme that organized the legalization of UAH 150 million to pay bail for one of the defendants in the “Midas” case — likely former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.

According to the investigation, in early June, the participants in the scheme gained actual control over “Sense Bank” and began using it to launder money. They were informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — legalization of money obtained by criminal means.

The Verkhovna Rada summoned NBU Chairman Andriy Pyshnyi to a meeting on August 20 to report on the situation surrounding “Sense Bank”. After that, he demanded to terminate the powers of the chairman of the bankʼs supervisory board Mykola Hladyshenko and to check the suitability of the entire board.

The head office of “Sense Bank” was searched on August 19, and on the evening of the same day, the government suspended the chairman of “Sense Bank” supervisory board and initiated the removal of the chairman of the board.

On August 20, the SAPO prosecutor named all those involved in the case, including the former chairmen of the supervisory board and management board of “Sense Bank” Mykola Hladyshenko and Oleksiy Stupak.
