This was reported on the British government website.
"The King has been pleased to approve the following appointment: Dan Jarvis, MP, Member of the Order of the British Empire, to the position of Secretary of State for Defence," the statement said.
Jarvis has served as the Home Secretary for Security since 2024. He also served as Mayor of South Yorkshire from 2018 to 2022.
Before his political career, from 1997 to 2011, Jarvis served as an officer in the Parachute Regiment of the British Army. He took part in military missions in Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Afghanistan. And since 2011 he became the Member of Parliament for the Barnsley North constituency.
