American singer Ariana Grande is demanding that the administration of US President Donald Trump stop using her music to promote anti-immigration policies.
Reuters reports this.
This week, the White House released a TikTok video about US immigration policy. The video shows US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers detaining and handcuffing people, set to Ariana Grande’s “Bye”.
In a comment under the video, the singer wrote: "Please never use my music in the context of this cruel, inhumane and disgusting nonsense."
In response, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said that "the crimes of illegal immigrants who have harmed and killed innocent American citizens are truly cruel and inhumane".
After the singerʼs reaction, the administrators of the TikTok page deleted her comment and muted the sound in the video.
This is not the first time the Trump administration has used popular hits in its social media videos to promote policies and campaigns. Recently, the White House used Sabrina Carpenter’s song “Juno” as the background for a video report on ICE operations. The singer was outraged and asked not to use her music “for their inhumane purposes”.
And singer Ariana Grande has previously criticized the policies of the Trump administration, particularly after his return to the presidency, urging voters to consider whether their lives have improved.
- After returning to the White House, Donald Trump significantly tightened immigration policy, expanding the powers of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Federal Border Patrol to arrest, deport, and conduct the so-called Operation Metro Surge in several cities, including Minneapolis.
- Thousands of armed agents have been deployed to detain people Trump calls illegal immigrants and quell protests against immigration raids. In January 2026, ICE and Border Patrol agents used firearms against civilians several times during such operations, including the shooting deaths of two US citizens, Renee Goode and Alex Pretty.
