A US Senate committee has approved the candidacy of a new ambassador to Ukraine

The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved the candidacy of Bridget Brink for the post of US Ambassador to Ukraine.

This was reported on the Twitter account of the committee.

"The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee is officially approving Bridget Brink as Ambassador to Ukraine, sending a strong signal that US support for Ukraine is only growing. We look forward to its speedy approval by the full Senate in the coming days," the statement said.

• On May 6, 2019, it became known that the US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Jovanovich ends her work. She urgently left for Washington for consultations. Jovanovic testified to Congress in the investigation into the possible impeachment of then-US President Donald Trump.
