“I received a report from CIA.” Tusk warned that Russia plans to attack checkpoints on Ukraineʼs border with Poland and other countries

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Russia may be preparing provocations and attacks on checkpoints on Ukraineʼs border with Poland and other countries.

He said this at a press conference, Onet reports.

According to Tusk, he recently received a "fairly accurate report" directly from the Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency John Ratcliffe about possible events in the coming months.

"Poland and all of Europe must be prepared for different scenarios. This is not only about the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian front, but also about threats on the eastern flank of the EU," the prime minister said.

Tusk also spoke about the incident on the Polish-Ukrainian border that occurred on the night of September 10. According to him, thanks to the cooperation of Polish and Ukrainian services, a direct threat to one of the checkpoints was avoided. He did not specify which checkpoint he was referring to.

Tusk added that the nighttime incident ended without serious consequences, but Poland should prepare for possible similar provocations.

"Russia has already resorted to provocative attacks on checkpoints, for example in Moldova. We expect this to happen in other countries, including Poland," the Polish Prime Minister said.

• According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, since August of this year, Russia has already attacked five Ukrainian checkpoints: four on the border with Moldova, one with Romania.
• The last attack occurred on September 9 at the “Starokozache-Tudora” checkpoint in the Odesa region. Then, two people were killed and three injured in a Shahed strike.
