Ukraine imposes sanctions against Russians, including judge involved in the imprisonment of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed Decree No. 493/2026 on sanctions against Russian propagandists and judges, one of whom is involved in the imprisonment of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna.

This is stated on the Presidentʼs Office website.

The sanctions package includes 29 individuals and 17 legal entities. Among them are judges involved in the persecution of Ukrainians in the Russian Federation and Crimea, as well as in the in absentia conviction of Ukrainian activists, journalists, and politicians.

Moscow judge Timur Vakhrameyev, who contributed to the complete isolation of Roshchyna, who was tortured in captivity, was also sanctioned. Judge Vitaliy Belytsky, who passed a sentence in absentia against Iryna Zemlyana, an expert at the Institute of Mass Information, is also under sanctions.

Also on the list are Russian propaganda media and their leaders, including Gazeta.Ru, Lenta.Ru, Utro.Ru, Tatmedia, FederalPress, and the Union of Journalists of Russia.

In particular, under restrictions are the editor-in-chief of the online magazine Global.City Nadia Plotnikova, director of Tatmedia Alsou Ismagilova, editor-in-chief of Utro.Ru Yulia Lozhechko, head of the Tatar-Inform news agency Rinat Bilalov, editor of RIA FederalPress Natalya Oksak, and photojournalist and author of the exhibition "Crimea. Novorossiya. Russia" Sergey Vinyavsky.
